Just finished!!!! Awesome!!!

Today I finished up the Grand Illusion Quilt. So pleased on how it turned out. Spent the day finished the inner and outer boarders. Here are some pictures.

Now will look at it for a bit and think of possible quilting designs.  Will decide after our return from Arizona.

Someone likes the quilt.

Great progress made after the great reval New Years Day!

So here is the reveal....

Spent most of the weekend on assembly of this quilt. It is a quilt that grows on you. Each block is sort of a masterpiece and as you add more it gets even better. I think the fun thing will be looking at all the fabrics and how so much of this came from my stash. We all have so much stash! I am at a point where I can put it aside for a bit due to another mystery. But will be sure to finish it soon. Currently auditioning for how to hand quilt it. I have some ideas in my Pinterest account. We will see what I choose. Would also like to use some of the orfan blocks for the backing. So here are some pictures.

Clue 4

This week's clue is a revist of week one with some minor differences and use of the extra  half square triangles that made this week's clue go a little faster with hopes of enjoying the holiday with family.
All my "college girls" are home for a well deserved break from studies. Home is a bit more noisier and more cluttered with their presence. Another worthy event in my life also occurred this week. I have given my notice to leave the organization in am working at (9 plus years). It is my early retirement to join my spouse who has been retired for 5 years. We plan on traveling to Tucson Az. And will be renting a place to stay for 2 months this year. 2 of the daughters will fly down for spring break..at different times. Looking forward to disconnecting from work and start a new chalet in my life. (More time for my hobby of quilting as I have several projects in the works.)

Bonnie had some wonderful inspiration as noted from pictures from her web site. I now need to plan a trip up to this hotel to see it in person.

The above 2 different blocks for this clue. Careful arranging the blocks prior to sewing or you will neede to do some reverse sewing!

So here are some fabrics...had to digg a bit deeper for some blacks. I even went to resale shop for 2 Aqua shirts as I was running low. The fist off white strip I won on a random draw while doing the first clue online quilt in. Thought I would add it to this quilt at this time.

Here are my 2 sample blocks to guide me.

Clue 3

Here are Bonnie's inspiration for this block. It is the dinning room in the Grand Hotel.
I have decided to continue to use all scraps. I even went searching for them to get different combinations. Started early Friday morning and working most of Friday and Saturday. Fished construction late Saturday. Sunday I fininshed trimming and clean up sewing area as I moved to the basement this year and I am able to spread out the blocks. Here are some additional pictures as well as a post from Facebook to note our progress thru the mystery.

Clue 2

Clue 2 was revealed on Friday. A version of last years chevron block. Picked up a new trick to sew just off the line drawn on the small block. With patience my block was improved from last year. I also really dug into my pinks in my stash of smaller material supply. I am really loving the variety. Will continue to do this with additions, clues to come. So here are some pictures. Takes about 1 hour to do 10 complete blocks (2-half squares😙). This being Sunday evening I have completed 80 blocks with 20 to do sometime this week after work. Great clue and great weekend of sewing.
I also wanted to add Bonnie Hunter's inspiration for this block.
